There are new curricula approved by the GMC for clinical radiology and interventional radiology. Originally planned for launch in August 2020, due to the pandemic implementation has been delayed to August 2021.
The new curricula are similar to the existing curricula in many ways – for instance the summative assessments have not changed, and there are only minor tweaks to the formative assessments on Kaizen. However both curricula are much shorter documents. There is also new terminology and new concepts to learn: capabilities in practice; entrustable activities; critical progression points. It is vital that all radiologists and radiology trainees are aware of these changes. Clinical supervisors, Education supervisors, and trainees will need to think about how they can deliver the curriculum, and demonstrate progression against the CIPs for both core and subspecialty training.
The menus on the left are a record of the weekly emails that have been sent out to all consultants and trainees. The programme covers the CR curriculum as a whole, and then the IR curriculum as separate topics.

This project will culminate in a regional meeting held on 9th March 2021, and repeated on 21st of April 2021, hosted via the West and East Midlands training faculty with support from the RCR. Please hold these dates in your diaries and look out for further details in the coming weeks.

The GMC developed the Generic Professional Capabilities (GPC) framework with the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AoMRC).
Clinical radiology trainees are expected to become competent in vetting, protocolling, performing and/or reporting all of the commonly used imaging modalities
Therefore all radiologists are required to be trained in a number of basic image guided procedures
